Take out your crystal ball....

Take out your crystal ball....

2001-06-02 by bruce@sigalarm.com

Well, we have reached the half way point in 2001. I find it tough to
believe, but it is true!

We have already seen some neat stuff from SynthTech this year, what
else do you think will show up in the second half of 2001?

It happens every year :)

Afaik, the mixer and VC panner/dual VCA are already in production.

From talking to Paul and reading this list, the following modules should be
out this year:

VC Pulse Divider -- a computerized 2U module that digitally divides the
frequency of a pulse wave. It has a number of fixed outputs, as well as a
voltage controlled output with a numeric display showing the value of the
divisor!! It can be used with either a VCO (to play chords, for example)
or a sequencer clock.

Micro VCO -- a space-saving 1U VCO, as stable as the 300, but without the
sync input. It will have one V/Oct input, one FM input, and saw and square
outputs. It seems like it would be an excellent source for either the
Mini-Wave or the aforementioned Pulse Divider.

"SEM" Filter -- a multimode filter using the same "bad parts" to get the
same beautiful sound as the Oberheim SEM filter. It may also have VC mode
(like an EML 100). You'll notice that all of the MOTM filters up until
this point have additional features not found on the originals.

Delayed Vibrato -- I think this going to be a 1U module that produces a
delayed LFO, a feature found on many Roland synths.

There has also been talk about a VC envelope generator of some sort.

Pretty cool, huh?? :)

oops!!

I forgot the Envelope Follower. My understanding is that it is 2U, based
on the same brand of IC's as the world's best solid-state dynamic
processors, and will include a "VCA" output in addition to its envelope
output.

Well, *almost* 1/2 way but close enough.

The IRS at my door, probably.

Actually, here is a list of stuff and the probablility of *shipping* by Dec
15th (the last day of the MOTM year).

MOTM-130 Dual Pan/Fade VCA 100%
Triple Preamp 100%
Voltage-Controlled Pulse Divider 100%

Envelope follower 90%
Oberheim SEM filter 80%

2 new waveshapers I haven't talked about 50%

Mini-sequencer 20% (depends on order rate after Sept 1st)

In general, the R&D time is 'stolen' from order fulfillment time. The kit
backlog is 80% gone, but the assembled
backlog is still up there.

The *current* order rate is on track for shipping ~1100 modules this year
(818 were shipped last year). I also
need time to manage the purchase/shipping/storage of over $80,000 worth of
parts. And my daughter keeps swiping
the tape and stapler.

Well, back to work! (finishing up MOTM-830 Mixer documentation so I can copy
it Monday for shipments starting Wed.)

I sent this to Paul directly instead of rplying to the list.

Sadly, I don't see the 1U VCO in this list. That would be quite
handy! Maybe after the sequencer?

*Please* talk about the Wave Shapers!

And finally, where am I supposed to put all this stuff?!?

Please, no wagering :)

Any word on the Micro VCO??

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to hear about these.
