some thoughts

I've been thinking. And here's my half baked idea:
Why not, instead of striving for a low noise osc w/ the perfect sine wave, why not
go for a sort of special purpose oscillator that is not necessarily versatile but
has a unique character that fills a certain niche? Or a filter with little lumps & bumps
in its response curve, that perhaps would change with either FM input or v/oct
input?
Sorry to be so vague, but that's the best I can do right now. Is this notion ridiculous?
Redundant? Ridiculous? Or perhaps just a giant pain in the ass?

A "bumpy" resonating filter bank is on the to-do list.
