MOTM web designer comes out of closet...

WOW-
It's great to see that the designer of paul's MOTM website has come out in
the open for all to cheer/jeer at! I'm sure many of us have wondered if
Paul does this all himself, (renaissance man that he is!) or had some
artistic Igor to his Baron von F. toiling away in a dungeon somewhere...
<double-wide mobile home sized G>

I do think that FM2 should have a -5 to +5 pot instead of the 1-10, but I
defer to the Man himself on that...

In a related note, I think I now understand the phenomenon known as Puff
Daddy, or how D.Bowie/Queen felt when they heard "Ice Ice Baby" for the
first time.
You know-when someone works diligently to craft a site with a new logo and
images that come close to showing the *excellent* quality that is MOTM
(both technical and aesthetic-we all know MOTM's are some of the classiest
designs around) and then one day sees a chopped up 8 bit doppleganger
wandering around the net for all to see, it is a bit unsettling.

Believe me, it's bad enough when you have to go from 24 beauty down to
jpeg, much less 8 bit bmp. Imagine how a 2 bit knockoff feels.

But hey, what can one do but have some fun with it? It's the nature of
hiphop, Marcel Duchamp and Linux...;-)

After all, are we not all merely shadows-harmonic modulations if you
will-of the perfect Platonic Ideal synthesist; who never runs out of money
nor space nor patchcords? ........Naaaah.
Just Moe, Larry, Curly, Shemp, et al. More Jung than olde Plato.

Please welcome another wandering soul into the blessed church of MOTM. Holy
chao, some of you look familiar!
I pray that Paul will receive this prodigal son....and if he ever solders
up a bitmap-to-MOTM converter, I'll get a small cut!

Well, Charles has certainly jumped in with both feet :)

I have assured him that Dave's work is not site-bound, but rather a
*valuable* way
that we get a "first look" at what the modules look like. (Dave, resist
temptation
to mail-bomb Charles).

Charles *is* the graphics designer of all of the MOTM section of the site
(and others to come)
and I am just the HTML/Perl peon.

I *do* keep Charles chained to a (cover your ears, please) M A C I N T O S H
(OK, hands off ears)
computer in a small tent under a tree. I have only *promised* a mobil home,
and why he thinks it's
a double-wide is anyone's guess.

Just don't let him get rid of the Mac. If you want the graphics fast that
is. Also great for music, noise making, whatever.

Dear Mr. Groucho,

This is not a mail bomb.

Mac dude! Reduce thy latte level! I think you'll fit in fine around this
asylum...

Er, I'm a musician/composer/synth builder/software engineer, not a graphic
artist wanna be. I have created these images because people ask me to, not
to rip anybody off. IMO there's nothing feebler than sampling others' music
and playing it back virtually unchanged to rap over, because you are too
musically challenged to at least program a new drum groove.

Seriously, I don't claim my hacked up images to be showroom quality. My
personal opinion is that they serve a useful purpose on this list, and on
the site in the "coming attractions" section, unless someone (do you
volunteer?) wants to do a more high fidelity mockup for public consumption.
For previewing coming modules though, any image is better than none. Perhaps
a notice could be placed on the News page: "WARNING - Simulated Panel
Layouts!"

However I am very uncomfortable with my "chopped up 8 bit dopplegangers"
appearing on the actual web pages for shipping modules. Therefore, PLEASE
REPLACE THE IMAGE OF THE 420 WITH A SHOT OF THE REAL PANEL!

All humor is appreciated here (by me anyhow). Just be careful to warn us
if you're gonna start droping that silly thing down if any of us stumble
onto the secret word.

Hello Charles (Morpheus -- hey! you're not related to that guy in Forbidden
Planet are you?),

Let me be the first (well maybe fifth, I've lost count) to welcome you to the
hallowed and solemn MOTM list, where the worship of MOTM can be realized in
all its glory without fear of ridicule. I've appreciated the graphic work
you've done and I look forward to your continued participation on the list.
It appears you'll fit in well with at least three other listers, and on
behalf of them (Moe, Larry and Shemp) let me say WELCOME, and on behalf of
everyone else, let me say "just what this list needs, another bloody
'comedian!'"

And I agree with this too of course -- though I seem to remember Paul sighing
when I brought this up a bunch of times for the 420.

analog synthesis) Barlow
