Racks on wheels

Racks on wheels

1999-07-23 by joe.pavone

I have found that open racks on wheels are very helpfull. I have 2 right now. One is a Quicklok that is tubular with the lower half sloped.

see http://www.synthony.com/Products/quiklok/QLracks.html

Another good rack I have found is BUD industries. Cheaper, and they have strong bases (no tipping or bolting) that can also have wheels.

My 2 bits: I've gotten both my big ol' racks from the trash around my
University. One was big&black, 6.5'+ tall, on casters, but it was way too
big to even get out of the dorms once I moved off-campus. My second latest
one is an Allied communications rack, beige, 36 spaces with a tinted
plexiglass front door. It definitely fits the bill for modular gear. If
you can get in touch with some of the engineers/computer/physics geeks at
your local college you could probably find some similar finds.

At MIT there's even a free-stuff mailing list. It's can get ugly tho, cuz
being first come first serve there's definitely a mad rush for the choice
gear.
