The answer for me was 1 1/2" x 3/4" pine.  For as long as I have been on this 
list there have been threads about rails and I don't know that any final 
solution has ever come about.  I figured the hell with it all and just went 
with wood.  Unless you plan on moving modules around on a daily basis, wood 
works just fine.  It can be as long as you want (might need some diagonal 
supports), you can space modules how you want, mix in other manufacturers and 
it's really inexpensive.
