Maybe this is a little off the wall ... but I have a dim memory of once having seen steel hardware in various colors of this clear, shiny, hard-surfaced lacquer finish. It looked kind of like the colors you get when you rub a bright metal washer with a permanent marker, but it was a real finish. Am I making things up? Does this stuff actually exist, can it be got at hobby stores or something like that? It just came to mind as an alternative to colored plastic washers for 1/4" jacks. (You know, banana jacks are plastic, but since all the other 1/4" jacks have nice shiny steel hardware...) Colored hardware would allow us to pick our wiring patterns and still have a snazzy-looking panel. How much would it cost to put a white satin-finish scribble strip over the jacks? I don't know what those things are made of; I've never seen gear expensive enough to have a "real" scribble strip, although my PAiA midi2cv has a solid white oval of regular panel paint around each jack which serves the same purpose. thanks & peace, Chris
