Thanks for the info.  One thing that I did add to my DarkStar was a 
rear-panel 1/4" stereo jack in parallel with the front-panel gate switch.  I 
have a momentary footswitch wired to a 1/4" stereo plug and use this to gate 
the DarkStar, allowing both of my hands to be free for knob twiddling.  I'm 
using the PAIA FrakRak for all of my Blacet stuff, and it has holes in the 
back suitable for the 1/4" jacks, so no drilling was necessary.
