Edgar Winter Frankenstein patch..

2000-09-22 by revtor@aol.com

All,
this patch is explained in Vail's Vintage Synthesizers book. The patch is shown with a 2600 in mind. I tried it out two days ago, but I have no clue as to what the authentic "Frankenstein" sound actually is so I'm not sure how close I got. It sounded cool though.. It had to do with FM of the VCF with res fully up with a sine VCO at a high frequency (couple thousand hz). The VCA was controlled with the AR env gen and the ADSR was I think controlling the VCO and filter also.. AR and ADSR were clocked at around 4-5 Hz Hmmmm.. anyone got that book nearby? (I'm at school) The book said to slide the VCF'S ADSR CV amount slider up and down to the beat..... hmm
good luck
~Steve
(along the way, I stumbled upon the vowelly sounding filter FM ting mentioned on AH recently. I found that byt FMing the vcf with a sine and having the vco and vcf cutoff at around the same freq, the vowelly sounds came out. it happened at around 125hz and a little below 1000hz.. but who knows how out of tune this 2600 is.. anyone care to explain these frequency/sound relationships for us??)
