I have found that 1/4" jacks are much easier to solder than 1/8 inch. Therefore, when I want 1/8 to anything, I take one of my surplus 1/8 to 1/8 molded cords, hack it in half and solder the 1/4" or whatever to it. A good source of cheap 1/8 inch to 1/8 inch molded cables is All Electronics. No minimum order.
