Hello again, Thanks for the reply and interesting views about the MOTM. I see my modular as a versatile tool for all sides of studio production. It provides me with individual processing, not just synth sounds, module at a time or in long and complicated patches. You said: Save the power of your MOTM for the more expressive >and experimental stuff. But I say use my modular to replace all of my other synths who cannot produce the buttery smooth sounds and leads as good as the MOTM as well as use it for the outer limits stuff. It is a master machine and I hope to use it in places where people won't know its the MOTM sometimes. Then my friends will go... "I didn't know you had a prophet 5 or a mini moog or an ms-20!" But all the time it will be my MOTM. And NOT a dyiong 30 year old drifting and noisy beast from the time I was born. Ha! >My math must be a little off. Where is this great increase in cost??? >Moving to larger knobs and using a wider panel. I still don't see the >substantial increase in cost. Tony will most likely not be using the standard Spectrol or Bourns pots Paul uses is such a small space so I figure the smaller pots he will have to use will most likely cost less. This adds 15 x $$$ for the price of the pots. The alco knobs vs the regular 3/4" knobs are around double the cost so add about $15-$20. The panel is double sized so add a measly $3 or so for that. Small things but they add up as a kit price. What pots will you use Tony??? >Be careful of whom you label. I have not labeled anyone, other than the MOTM as the most useful tool in my growing studio. I don't think you should get so defensive about the MOTM being used for things other than out of this world tweeky stuff. Wendy/Walter Carlos used her/his huge ass Moog modular to break ground for all of us with Switched on Bach. How much more traditional can you get? Thanks for listening and for the valid points! Long live the MOTM support list and usefull debates and discussions we all bring here. When will we start to hear from all of the other MOTM heads out there who send no mails to this list?
