Re: [motm] sequencer mounting in motm rack?/wanted

Paul,

There aren't too many rack mount sequencers available these days (at least until
DoMAS is available). Two that come to mind are the Doepfer MAQ 16/3 and the Serge
TKB. I don't have experience with the Doepfer but have heard some reasonable
reports on it. It supports MIDI as well and make sure to get the V3.0 firmware.

I have used the Serge TKB and, when combined with a quantizer, it has to be one of
the coolest, most interactive sequencers I have used. The touch plates on the TKB
allow a great deal of flexibility. With a few patch cords, you can change sequence
length, start point, direction, sequencer row, and get a voltage corresponding to
the pressure on the touch plates. It is a very interactive sequencer that begs you
to "play" it unlike some analog sequencers that want you to set them and stand back.

Now the bad news, the Doepfer costs $850 from En-Port and the Serge runs about $1200
from Sound Transform Systems and be prepared to wait, at least for the TKB. Paul is
*much* faster than Rex when it comes to shipping out product.
