sync input. If so, will the wave reset on key press or key release?


The sync input on the '320 is active when the voltage is greater than +3V.
So yes,
a GATE out will hold it in reset *as long as the GATE is active!*.

This is not what you want :) Rather, you need a *trigger pulse* output to
sync the '320.
