You can set it up for either single or multi trigger. It just does it differently. The Kenton outputs a trigger on a separate dedicated jack, while the Expressionist closes the gate for a few microseconds and then reopens it. You can't hear it do this, but it allows the EG to retrigger on each note while playing a legato line. So the audible effect is identical.
