I know I am new but a quality vocoder is something I would love to see. I was reviewing the archived messages and Paul had stated at one time that to make such a MOTM would be $600-$800 (I would assume lots of DIY building time as well). This is still less than the EMS prices. I think this price for the MOTM was for a vocoder in excess of 11 bands (Maybe 40 band?). New vocoders out there lack sound quality (not counting EMS). You are then left to buy a Roland VP-330 off EBAY for $1000 or more (these are the only "common" vocoders I have seen). Regardless even a "more than 11 band vocoder you get nowadays" would be very cool. -----Original Message----- From: Aaron Swihart [mailto:aaron@...] Sent: Thursday, March 16, 2000 1:06 AM To: motm@onelist.com Subject: [motm] EMS Vocoder... From: "Aaron Swihart" <aaron@...> Just a note on the topic if anyone cares. I have stayed in touch with Robin, and here is the say on the Vocoders. As of December of '99: the 2000 950 the 3000 2850 the 5000 6500 "The 2000 is in stock...there are only 8 units left. After this I really don't know whether to do a redesign or just find a new package for it." "The 3000 is a bit pricey...just to get a row fo 16 channel attenuation pots. It is assembled in Germany...usning the same eletronics I use in the 2000." "The 5000 is in there just for dreaming - the last time we made one of these was in 1982. We still have the capability to make them but would need about 50% up front" SOOOOOOOOO.... vocoder...should I stop looking......?????? aaron ------------------------------------------------------------------------ GET A NEXTCARD VISA, in 30 seconds!
