MOTM OT

2000-02-16 by Paul Schreiber

Certainly, this is a "free speech" list, but it is possible to lose sight of
the *main purpose*,
that is to discuss MOTM. Now, what does *that* mean?

By the end of the year, I suspect there may be over 150 people on this list.
For the list to
be useful to the most people, I think topics should focus around things
like

* How do I use the modules?

* What future modules & features would be nice?

I don't see any "harm" in discussing Doepfer, Serge, Moog, PAiA, Blacet et
al as long as it
remains in context. Examples

In Context:

"Doepfer has a cool feature on the blah blah blah. Can we see that in a
future module?"

Out of Context:

"I just love my Doepfer gear! This stuff really rocks!"

Also, let's keep the traffic to the point. Lately, things have sort of
wandered. I encourage the
lurkers out there to jump in. I would like everyone to feel like a valid
contributor. I personally
try to stay out of most of the discussions: I'm *not* a user (my ssytem
consists of a MOTM-900 and a broken '110)
and I want this to be a customer forum. I do read every post, but bite my
tongue alot.

What no one wants is this to degrade into AH or (shudder) the Emagic LOGIC
list with 400 stoopid emails
a day.

I think over the last few months the hardware-based discussions have been
fruitful. I have lots of designing
to do to catch-up! But let's not ignore the music side: there are 4
producers on this list (speak up, you guys)
and I'd like to see more "music talk" versus "LED talk".

Not being a wet blanket, just hoping to involve more folks. I'll get off my
soapbox now and finish up the
'440 layout.
