Hey, Im a new member here, My name is Steve and I live in NewJersey. I too, am an analogoholic, and I hope you can all help me as I can help you with our addictions. Ha ha I had ideas for a few cool modules last night.. Ill give brief rundowns and if any one wants any more info just ask.. first one I had was for a "VC Patch Bank" -Yeah i know modulars are all about experimenting, but in reality this wouldn't stop creativity at all. -All modules could have jacks on the back like the ones on the front going to this brain, Maybe ribbon cables to make it easier, and the brain would read what was connected to what and when you hit the "Set Patch" button it would store these settigns in memory. Knobs would have to be set manually though of course.. Thats basically it, ive got lots of other ideas for this one but ill try not to take up too much bandwidth.. The second idea I had was for a maybe 4 or 5 u wide panel with a matrix of LED's that you could control by row or column with CV's to make them light up and switch color etc... Might not be too practical or useful, but would be cool, no? Third Idea was for a controller. All analog, all CV's/trigs. Instead of a keyboard, how about a giant piece of ribbon controller surface maybe 8 by 15 or 12 by 12 inches for equal x-y axis response. You could play it with a finger or maybe even get a method for it to read how many and where your fingers touched down on the plate and then the CV's would track your fingers. Polyphonic ribbon controller. but you'd need outs for each finger.. hmm gonna have to think about this one a little.. maybe two panels side by side, separate one for each hand. Ok, we could limit it to two fingers.. would be fun the last idea I had was for a final mixer/panner.. maybe about 6 ins with pan and level knobs for each, maybe have a few onboard LFO's and A/D env generators assignable .. Could free up some modules by having level and panning lfo's and AD gens. internal.. A few stereo outs and phones outs a master level knob.. would be a good way to interface a modular to the rest of your rig instead of it hogging up your whole mixer.. Just some ideas to chew on... all comments and ideas welcome MOTM rules, ~Steve
