This is good to see---thanks! As you know, I'm partial to #4 for the sake of elegance and maximization of panel space. However, if we were to go with switches, I like #2. The third one is an interesting idea, but I think it would be hard to see-(never mind get your fingers in there)---those switches. Doubly so for case #1. The patchcords I use have something like 2.5" deep metal 'shanks' on them, and if the switches were cramped in there too closely I think it would be awkward.
