I have just received notice that Mouser is shipping today about 475 new (white) Spectrol 149 (cermet element) pots. These were ordered July 20th :( Anyway, Indiana has been substituting 148 (conductive plastic) pots in all of the kits (149s are needed only for the VCOs, anyway) up until today. However, they have used up all of their 148 linear pots. The Spectrol log pots are, for *now*, still black and there are 200 still not used in Indiana. So.......... a) starting Monday, up until new 148 pots arrive, 149 pots will be used in all of the kits for the 148 *linear* b) no, this doesn't change the sound/performance/any other possible thing you can think up c) I will guess the 148 pots will get here around Nov 25th, so only the very last set of kits will use them d) kits with the log pots (420/440/480/etc) will continue to be shipped with the black Spectrol pots. I am ordering the new style log pots as well, but I *should* have enough to carry me to probably 95% of all the modules currently on order e) the arrival of the 149 pots (tomorrow) means I can ship more VCOs, but now the pacing item becomes the tempco. These are on order, they will arrive in mid-Nov but I have enough tempcos to ship about 2/3 of all the 300/310s on order. In conclusion: use the pots in your kit, they are "ok" and will work fine. Fight through the references to 'black Spectrol pots' and the part numbering scheme differences (the white pots have a much longer part number stamped on them). Paul S.
