Re: Upcoming MOTM-800 shortage

First: Hi Celeste, I think a lot of people have other modular equipment and
use those mixers, or they are just mixing in the MOTM 420s -- I think the
MOTM mixer is due early next year.

The newer 800s do have gate only ADSR function -- but I believe it's quite
similar to the (now famous) John Speth mod for the older ones. You may just
want to make the mod, Larry.

After using a 2600 for about 15 years, I found an old OB-1 (in a dumpster no
less!!!!) which has gate only ADSRs. Yes! It's completely different, but as
you and others said, it makes for an interesting instrument when going in and
out of legato playing.

But you could also think of how different the sound is when a guitar string
is plucked vs. an un-plucked left-hand legato technique, or a long single
breath melismatic phrase on a sax or trumpet vs. the same run with a heavy
articulation. I'm not sure there are any analogous examples of traditional
keyboards.

No, but I'm missing my MOTM -- I'm not getting any modules (320 or discount)
until I get my car problem sorted out <boo who>.
