The prototype uses processors that are difficult to update code over MIDI. Also, after the '650, I am 'retiring' work on using 8-bit processors and moving to 32-bit ARM processors. The cost has dropped over the last 3 years so that a 32-bit processor, running at 60Mhz with 128K of Flash is <$6. The processors have 8 times the internal RAM memory (used for storage of flags, parameters, etc) of 8051 type processors which makes the code *much easier* to write. What I plan to do is redesign *just* the CPU card in the sequencer and have the code rewritten. I already have front panel and the pc board with the 2 rows of switches (and these switches are REALLY nice but $$$$). I even have the displays, high $$$ Grayhill optical encoder, custom knobs, and bezels. I will have the CPU card ready June 1st to give to the SW folks. If anyone wants to investigate the CPU I'm using, here is a link: http://www.keil.com/dd/chip/3732.htm Paul S.
