They're good for a couple of months, but I find that if you need to store 
them then they'll tend to leak. If you're constantly out in the field and 
making use of it then they're great.

I prefer to use a heat gun with a concentrator nozzle for shrinking stuff. 
The one I have is from my model airplane days, so in general it's a bit big 
for simple shrink jobs.

You may wanna to check out that avenue... I don't think you'll find the 
quality of the FIT, but it's an option. A local hobby shop should carry 
them, or you can shop online at places like Tower Hobbies.
