RE: [motm] Real Ring Modulator

2005-03-09 by rdrake

i've got one, and like it quite a bit. it sounds like--a ring modulator, very similar to the multipliers usually used for this effect, but... i hesitate to say "warmer", since that's so overused & underspecific, but there i said it. more organic? different in a good way, at least to my ears.

i believe it does attenuate the signal(s) a bit... because of that and for versitility, you might want to add buffers w/ level controls on both ins and out (a couple of ken's 04 mixers would do it, if you don't want to wire 'em yourself). but i have mine unadorned in an Altoids tin w/ 1/8" jacks, use it all the time. i'll have it at AHMW if you're in the area.
