Like Larry, I solder all the holes with organic solder prior to the last board wash. I scrub my boards very thouroughly, but I do not rinse them with distilled water. Our water, which has passed through a water softener has never left a stain on a board. If I used unsoftened hard water there probably would be a stain. Some places have high iron contenet in the water which can leave rust stains. I wonder if this could possibly degrade performance.
