some newbie questions for the pros

2004-09-28 by Wood

as some of you may know from my recent posts i just completed my 420 filter. i really likr the way it sounds but had some questions about a few things. i have a mostly roland setup analog wise and plan on using my mc202 and sh101 to trigger this thing. do i have to send it a gate signal or would a trigger from an 808 or 909 work as well? i also have access to a juno6 but dont know if i can do anything with that and havent tried. paul said the cv changes the resonance setting, will a trigger signal change this to the new value instantaneously or can i get a gradual change? how do you guys like to use your 420 filter? i am also planning on ordering another module soon and would like to hear any suggestions you may have. i will only be able to get a module once every four to five months so i am thinking i will stick with things i can use with the stuff i already have (signal processing type modules to run my exsisting gear into). i will want to eventually start building up to a standard synth voice but i think i would prefer to get things i can use immediately than build something like that over the course of a year or so. when i finish school in two years i will be able to buy modules more frequently and will not be so limited, also once i get a few more modules i may be just fine with the idea of building something i cant use right away. any way sorry for the dumb questions and i really appreciate any help and ideas or advice you can provide me with.
thank you, eric
