----- Original Message ----- From: coyoteous <antithesist@...> I'm looking for opinions on the "Blacet to MOTM Converter Panel": http://www.blacet.com/motmconvFP.jpg http://www.blacet.com/misc.html (near bottom). How does the finish compare to MOTM/Stooge type/quality? The finish is different. It appears to be a powdercoat to me as opposed to wet paint. Paul and Stooge Products both use Sherwin Williams Polane. So, the finish is slightly different. However, it is quite nice. Given that the module will be completely different, I would say the difference in the finish is acceptable. > Do the panel size and mounting hole placement follow MOTM standards? The holes see to be in the right place. certainly within a few thousandths, if not right on. They fit just fine in yur MOTM rig. > Do the pilot holes line up with the MOTM grid? They seem to be very close. > I assume this is one in action with a Noise Ring: http://www.retrosynth.com/slideshow/ahmw04/ahmw04_049.jpg (seems a bit out-of-kilter). Yes, I got this one specifically because I wanted to be able to mount the Noise Ring up in my MOTM system for AHMW 2004. Your observation that is is out-of-kilter is indeed correct. However, that is not fault of the conversion panel. Clearly, John sells this as a "Blacet" to MOTM conversion panel. You cannot assume that also means ALL frac rack to MOTM conversion. The two pots on the edge of the Wiard panel are too close to the edge and conflict with the metal cutout. I had to either enlarge the metal cutout, or skew the holes off to one side to make it fit. Since I was in a hurry, It was easiest for me to just stretch by drilling the mounting holes to one side. If it had been a permanent installation, I would have taken the time to grind the hole out larger around the pots where the conflict with the panel. Larry H
