Music is organized sound, so why shouldn't the instrument be 
organized? (BTW, never sweat about typos on the net--you'll go mad!)

Think of a modular synthesizer as a kitchen.  Does it make sense to 
put forks in one drawer, knives in another, and spoons in cupboard?  
Or does it make more sense to have all eating utensils side-by-side 
in nice neat little compartments?  Again, it is all about 
efficiency.  Having pots in one place, knives in another, bowls in 
another, etc. frees the cook to concentrate on the meal instead of 
wasting time searching for tools.

A synthesizer should be equally *mis en place.*

Clustering ADSRs together is like clustering mixing bowls together. 
So what if the synthesist might have to use a 6 foot patch cord every 
now and again to reach one? We are dealing with 10V p-p signals, so 
induced noise is NOT an issue.

I'll bet Robert Rich's kitchen is organized.  Wonder if his synth is?

Alas, my modular is the ONLY thing that's organized in this pad.

And no, this isn't a flame, though I rather enjoy a heated debate.  
Sure, people can arrange their modules anyway they like, but I think 
it is important for newbies to understand the value of clustering-- 
it will save them a lot of wasted time and effort.

Think I'll make a bumper sticker that says, "Carlos Clusters"   :-)  
Then again, that sounds like some kind of candy.
