real time computer music

2003-06-27 by celesteh@casaninja.com

the algorythms may not be new, but the performance aspect is. People with
access to real time computer synthesis will come up with different ways of
using their existing tools, which in turn will lead to the development of
new tools. There is definietly room for improvement and innovation in the
world of laptop music. I've been to many boring concerts. I think
real-time re-synthesis using live performers for sound sources has a lot
of potential. Also, it seems like there's a a lot of potential working
with tunings. It's not a new tool, but it's one that not a lot of people
are using.

I dunno what new synthesis algorythms that academia is busy inventing, but
hopefully I will soon. :)
