You'll be lucky to find a common carrier without problems.
Fed-Ex Ground used to be RPS..which was bought out a few years ago. They are 'contract' workers.
Unfortunately, the international shipments are based on size,weight,distance, and tariffs imposed by various countries.  
I work for Federal and don't use the service even with a employee discount..to pricey 
USPS seems to be the biggest bargin..and Federal moves a large portion of that under contact with the government.
