The link below has the details so far of Charles Osthelder's DIY ribbon
controller project.  The simple electronics have not yet been posted.  But,
the construction of the resistive element is shown in detail.  The
construction files are available for download in PDF format.  I too have a
piece of this resistive material (thanks Charles).  I am planning a slightly
different approach to mine, if I ever get around to it. :)
