Well, since no one else has piped up, I guess I will.  The 256 bytes of data
that is looped in the Miniwave, is way too short for a drum sound
considering the entire envelope of the sound.  That's not to say that some
looped wave could not be the basis for some traditional drum sound
programming (which I personally have never been able to do worth a damn).

What would happen if one tried to burn drum machine samples onto a Miniwave
compatible EPROM? If this would work I think it would give great gritty
8-bit percussion sounds. Any ideas?
