They're both done as MPEG 1.0 Layer 3, at 128kbs and 44.1khz. Maybe the problem is with the MIME encoding? What happens if you SHIFT_CLICK to force the files down raw, and then load 'em up? Are they possibly coming down as ASCII encoded, and thus need to be uncooked?
