Does anybody have any experience hooking drum pads to a modular?

I recently purchased a set of Roland drum pads, and they are designed 
to patch into a controller that converts analog signals into MIDI. 
Rather than take the midi signal and convert it to CV's, I'm thinking 
that there's probably a simpler way just to patch the pads into a 
modular. 

Any suggestions?
