MOTM Kick Drum

2002-03-14 by thomas white

FM synthesis (ie. Pluggin sine out of one VCO into FM of 2nd VCO) will
create great high hats. Adjust the frequencies of each VCO to tune sounds.
Throw a third VCO into the mix and you can really create some great noises.
Its amazing how a couple or few sine waves can sound like white noise. Even
more craziness is patching the VCO's out to the 120 sub Mux and getting
dirty :)

PS. Kick drum
Mix the following voices together for a nice kick drum similar to a 909.

101 noise out to a 110 VCA controlled by a really fast attacking 800 EG. Use
this for a noise burst in each kick hit. Out into 440 VCF mixer in 1.

440 VCF self-oscillating FM'ed by 800 EG also with really fast attack and
short decay no sustain. Decay for longer drum sounds. Tune freq for kick
pitch.

300 Square wave mixed into the 440 VCF mixer in 2

patch the whole 440 out into a second 440 VCF and adjust the overall
frequency to eq out some of the high end leftovers. Thump thump thump!
