Or am I?

Surely you aren't!

I must've been the first to do this as I was one of the first customers. Since I had no idea where MOTM was going to go when the first modules shipped, I decided I would plan on a "smallish" MOTM to compliment my small Serge (and home-brew) stuff.

At first, this worked very well. But soon too many modules used normalling. I seem to recall the 800 as a module that I decided to wire up so that I always had to provide both a gate and trigger to (since I could just use a small patch cord between the gate and trigger inputs when I was only using a gate signal).

However, after several more modules, I came to my senses. I'd had other "problems" with the normallized inputs on a few modules (I remember having to add something like a 1M resistor to ground on the control inputs of the 700, and I had to call Paul when I couldn't get my 410 LFO to go below 10 Hz with no input -- I didn't even see the normalled ground on the schematic until after making a fool out of myself). I finally was assimilated to the inevitability of 1/4" world domination.

Like others, I'd suggest you leave the MOTM 1/4" and go the route of the patch panel, and custom cables (1/4" on one end and banana on the other). You can also fit a banana jack into a 1/4" plug and build a custom adapter (watch out for the sheild/strain relief part of the jack). This will save you a lot of trouble later as you MOTM system grows.

What are you interfacing with?

If you really want to add bananas to the 800, I think I can look up my old stuff and let you know what I had done and what it did (and maybe didn't do).

Good luck!
