MOTM

I've posted a new track to my mp3.com page. "Funk Yer Box." 

This is a silly, rump-shakin' number with an almost-lewd vocal bit (very
little of that), a bouncy, big bassline and lots of looped/sampled tidbits.
It's the kind of thing you might dance to, if you were so inclined. I'm
pretty sure SOC will dance without pants...

We start with our friends the SP-12 and MOTM modular. The jangly sound is a
sample--I challenge anyone to tell me what it's from (I would guess that a
handful of you may have heard it around 20 years ago--let's just say it's
never been release on CD and certainly never hit Napster). The "whoop" sound
and the bassline are part of the same monophonic patch on the MOTM modular;
it's controlled by the Frostwave Fat Controller. 'Cause you need a fat
controller for a fat bassline. Or something. The kick is a sampled 909 kick
in the SP-12. The dash of reverb is from a Furman RV-2 spring reverb. 

What I really like about this track is how different the MOTM modular patch
sounds when it moves from bassline territory and then glides up into that
"whoop" sound. How could it be, Bastard? I'll tell you: The MOTM-700 VC
router allows me to send the audio signal different places based on the
voltage amount. So when the voltage reaches a certain threshold (before the
high note i.e.) the router's kicking it through a different filter. Neat,
huh? One patch, two sounds. 

Now I have to blow my nose.
