X-Box
Cisco Router

Today, only 8% of all IC's shipped are in DIP. And that number drops 20%
every year.

EPROMs and other memory make up over 90% of THAT total.

Now for the good news: the average MTBF (mean time between failures) on
modern processed ICs
(ie ICs made after 1995) are like 25 YEARS.

Best thing to keep MOTM happy: use a GOOD SURGE supperssor (acts like a
Serge suppressor, too!)
