Just saw some very brief info on the drummachine.com website for the 
Frostwave SpaceBeam:

It is an "Optical Theremin. Selectable waveform of Sine, Saw and Pulse.  
Audio output as well as CV/Gate output which you can control any CV/Gate 
equipped synths, effector i.e. Pitch, Cut-off Freq, Res, etc."

They are selling it for $179.  I have e-mailed Frostwave for more information.
