Now that you mention slew it reminds me..going through
my mid 70's Moog modular catalog, I see that the original Moog modular
sample/hold's did have slew available on the output, controlled via pot..I know
that Mighty Kieth Emereson himself sometimes turned on the s/h slew (glide) in
some of the songs..I can't remember which but I do know you can hear the effect
in at least one of the tracks on the recent ELP 'Then and Now' double CD set..a
great CD a must get..BTW that IHMO was one of the weaknesses of the MiniMoog, no
sample/hold, it was allways a pricey extra sadly..of course by the late 70's
when the Japs, Roland, Yamaha, Korg ect arrived here they were wise enough to
include them in their synths...I know as fact direct from a local guy who was a
Buffalo Moog factory technichian that customers used to complain about how such
features were not available built in..he says the Moog (post Bob
Moog) bosses were arrogant, looking down thier noses at Arp and the Japs..their
attitude was 'we are number one..the public will buy what we make because we
tell them to!'..exactly like Detroit in the 70's and still like most American
corperations today..enough of my rant for now!
