just came across this great surplus electronics place a month ago via 
carrionsound.com.  it's called Da Lode and it's in north portland, 
right around the corner from the big paul bunyun statue.  they've got 
anything and everything, from 9v battery clips, to tube sockets to 
this weird hollow sounding calrad dynamic mic i got for 10 bucks.  
again, anything and EVERYTHING.  

the catch is they're only open on saturdays from 10-5, but heck, it's 
not like i shouldn't be home soldering the rest of the time anyway.  
oh, and the guy who runs it is really nice and helpful too.  they had 
a website at dalode.com but it doesn't seem to be up right now.
