logging "Delayed for"

logging "Delayed for"

2016-10-05 by Marcus Schopen

Hi,

I'd like to generate some graphs with mailgrapher. Milter-greylist is
called via tcp from the receiving relay, so some logging is on the
receiving sendmail and some on the scanning machine. I'd like to feed
mailgrapher with the logs from the scanning machine and those look like
this:

Oct 4 11:24:20 scanner milter-greylist: u949OFLn005611: addr ... from
<yyy> to <xxx> delayed for 00:15:00 (GRL15)
Oct 4 11:34:24 scanner milter-greylist: u949YKhU006659: addr ... from
<yyy> to <xxx> delayed for 00:04:56 (GRL15)

If an email overcomes the greylisting barrier this is _only_ logged on
the receiving machine like this:

u949iPRc007745: Milter add: header: X-Greylist: Delayed for 00:20:10 by
milter-greylist-4.6.1 ...

Is there a way to log "Delayed for" beside add header ("Milter add:
header: X-Greylist"), something if above ACL GRL15 is passed?

Ciao
Marcus

Look for CUSTOM REPORTS and %E in the greylist.conf man page.

Hmmm ... yes, I've seen that option and was thinking of piping all stats
to /var/log/mail.log instead to a separate greylist logfile. But I was
thinking of a way using an acl and get an final "accept" log entry to
/var/log/mail.log if the messages overcomes greylisting, something like:

Oct 4 11:34:24 scanner milter-greylist: u949YKhU006659: addr ... from
<yyy> to <xxx> accept delayed for ... (GRL15)

Ciao
Marcus
