how to use access.db

how to use access.db

2008-07-20 by Marcel Blenkers

Hi there,

the Readme says that you could use the access.db for rules.

But it does not say how those rules should be put into the access.db.

I know the greylisting-milter from snertsoft, and they use something like:

greylisting:from=IP ok

so..

is there anyone who could explain how to use the access.db and not the
greylisting.conf?

As i am running webmin it would be a lot easier to put those rules within
the access.db..

Thanks for the help

Marcel

Before going that way, note that accessdb can only be used to whitelist
some senders by IP or e-mail, and with much less lfexibility than what
milter-greylist ACL can.

hmm..

could it be, that the info provided by README is a bit small? Could you
please state some examples for this flexibility?

So that someone could configure his or her config even better?

Thanks in advance

Marcel

The idea is that you may already have an access.db file in your sendmail
setup, used for site-wide IP and e-mail whitelisting/blacklisting. This
feature allows you to pull the whitelist in milter-greylist, so that you
do not have to duplicate it.

If you do not use access.db, there is no benefit to start using it now
for milter-greylist setup.
