When manually stopping the milter-process I expected that memory-held
entries are dumped to greylist.db, but modification timestamp of
greylist.db didnt change. Am I expecting too much? (I use 3.0rc5)

best regards
Hans

Roughly speaking, it is libmilter's bug. Milter-greylist dies or
crashes before or during the final dump. Set "dumpfreq 0" until
sendmail 8.13.9.

Well, dumpfreq 0 is almost unusable with on a really busy server...

Hi, How to reduce the file size greylist.db? The program works 6 days, and already has a file size of 270 Mb. What will happen next? =) Thanks

Try to use the time_out option, so greylist will purge the DB and no more than 10 Mbs will be used.

Hi to all,

Default time_out is 5 days, which is the delay after that some MTAs like sendmail don't try to send queued messages anymore.

You can decrease time_out, but also keep in mind that some servers try to resend certain messages after 5 days or more. So, if you set, for example, time_out to 2 days, you'll lost certain messages coming from these servers.

So it's useful to look at log file searching for such servers, and eventually whitelisting them if you think they are safe.

Lock for auto whitelisted IPs and count how often you find them.
There may be some IPs of MX-Servers of lage domains that you whant
to whitelist.
