This I cannot vouch for or against... It would seem logical for the API
client capable of setting the macro (Sendmail) to do so regardless of
the socket type used to interact with the milter?

Or did I not understand your point?

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
