Dear William F. Dudley, Jr.

Please fix your broken spam filter to have exceptions for mailing lists you
subscribe to.

Please also fix it to use the envelope return address, not the Reply-To:. See
RFC 1123 section 5.3.3 for the requirements of mail systems generating
notifications for delivery failure.

Finally note that challenge-style mail systems (ie: TMDA) which generate
post-delivery messages like this are somewhat controversial. They are also
grounds for being listed in spamcop and other RBLs as malicious
misconfiguration. The backscatter they generate bombards innocent third parties
who have their addresses forged by spammers. This makes what was your spam
problem into a problem for others. It also expands what would be an easily
blocked single source of error messages (DoS) the forgery victim would receive
into a difficult to handle barge of messages in many formats from many servers
(DDoS).

Be aware that while I'm a little more tempered in my judgment, many will file
abuse complaints against you. I'll simply blacklist you if your system ever
generates a flood of any sort. I do suggest you take measures to avoid ever
flooding any host, as such might be considered negligence in your area and leave
you liable for damages. (I'm no expert on law in your locality, but it's good
advice to never set up a server in a way that might DoS someone. Autoresponders
are a tricky matter and should be written with great care.)
