I'd guess quite a lot of messages. abo.fi is a university and Fredrik appears to
be one of their IT staff. and "The University has nearly 8000 students".

I don't know.. Really, given the rate of dictionary attacks these days it
doesn't seem that unreasonable if you have no mechanisms to protect against them.

How big is an entry? 2 email addresses and 4-byte IP address? 40 bytes or so?

Based on that you're talking about 50 million entries. If you've got a 5-day
timeout that's only 10 million attempts per day. For a site with 8,000 users
that doesn't seem unreasonable.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
