Nifty chord memory trick!

Nifty chord memory trick!

2004-08-03 by Alexander

holy crap this sounds cool as heck! very commodore64-esque

did this on my poly800MK2 dont know if the other ones do it the same
but here goes:

first - crank yourself out a nice square lead patch, double DCO and
detune level 1

second - put kbd on hold mode and play all 5 'C' keys then switch to
chord memory

third - WHACK a 6 or 8 finger chord (yes both hands... as many notes
as possible... in fact it doesnt even have to be a chord just a buncha
notes) and i mean WHACK... so they ALL trigger at the same time...

the poly's slowass 1980's CPU will lag to hell and 'step' up through
the notes kinda like an arpeggiator!!!! it sounds COOL AS HELL...

the more notes, the longer lag before it sets on the highest note pressed.

just one more reason why this synth RULES!!!

I'm running the upgrade (os 1.06) for the SH32... and as far as i can
tell it didnt change squat ;P

the filter didnt step really that bad to begin with. (ensoniq SQ80 is
much worse) most people were just bitching...they were probably
comparing it to a real analog filter... because that's something it's not.

and i just tryed it ... the Unison mode on the SH32 does ALMOST the
same thing as on the polly. but i like how the poly does it better...
more bleepy-nintendoish-chiptunes-goodness :D

the poly800 is like the SQUARE WAVE GURU :)

then you would dig the filter sweep to tweak the knobs on the poly with the moog slayer mod.

Can anyone get an audio clip up? I tried it with a MK1 and couldn't get
any "extreme" results. Just a little bit of randomness.

Re: Nifty chord memory trick!

2004-08-03 by Alexander

nothing random about it... it goes from lowest note to highest note..

the more notes pressed... the longer the lag... try hitting the same
chord with both hands (also make sure the chord memory has all 5 c's
it's lightning fast with just 1 note)
