New feature!!! VCF LFO modulation attenuation by second LFO

New feature!!! VCF LFO modulation attenuation by second LFO

2015-03-04 by Michael Hawkins

See the attached software SYX files version 2.6.5.

This adds extended parameter 47 (P2 47).

When P2 47 is set to 0 both the first and second modulators work in additive mode. That is, they both modulation.

When P2 47 is set to 1 the second modulator is used to attenuate the depth of influence of the first modulator.

Attached is an example patch that shows how the second modulator attenuates the first.

I've been meaning to do this for a long time. I finally got enough free time to do it - woohoo!

Enjoy!

Sounds like a feature request I posted on SourceForge a couple years ago.

I need to dust off my HAWK and give this a try this weekend.. that and the other feature that let's you change the cycle starting point of LFO'S.

Should make for some really wicked space sounds.

Thanks Mike!

Awesome, nice one Mike.

I'll be installing this update later on today.

As a newcomer and someone who hasn't had much time to read the manual or play with this in depth yet, can you give me an indicator of whether one LFO can modulate the rate of another as well?

That is exactly the request you made. Was it that long ago? yikes.
It's not perfect thing just yet since the 8 bit math means it's a bit rough going from some to none modulation attenuation. You will know what I am saying when you hear it.

Yes, the rate of LFO1 can be modulated by SLFO3 and the rate of LFO2 can be modulated by SLFO4.
See extended parameters 16, 17 for LFO1 and 26, 27 for LFO2.

Glad you're enjoying it. I just now quickly created another patch where I use LFO2 as the 2nd modulator to attenuate the influence of LFO1 while also using SLFO4 to vary the rate of LFO2.

Check it out - Patch 12.

I am going to have to create a new tools function that allows setting a specifc parameter to a specific value and apply it to all patches. Because the new parameter for modulation is not set to zero by default. So it is messing up your patches.

Let me look at that this week. In the meantime, you just need to set the parameter (P2 47) to zero on your patches.

That was a misprint on my part.
1 = normal additive modulation of both 1st and 2nd modulators2 = 1st modulator attenuated by 2nd modulator

Thanks Mike.. I did notice something odd about P2 47.

seems it is values 1 AND 2, not 0 and 1 when I go to change it. #yiv4715743552 #yiv4715743552 -- #yiv4715743552ygrp-mkp {border:1px solid #d8d8d8;font-family:Arial;margin:10px 0;padding:0
