Calibrating joystick Poly800

Calibrating joystick Poly800

2014-10-18 by ultragalore@...

I have a problem with the Poly after my HAWK800 / atomahawk kit. The joystick DCO seemed to be miscalibrated. I need to pull it half an inch down to have proper center value.

For those who are fiddling with this also, I managed to calibrate the Y-axis by putting a 50K variable resistor between pin 16 an 5 on the IC6 analog multiplexer IC:

Grit on Twitter: "Finally managed to kill the @comtruise DCO drift on my #poly800 with this 50K resistor. Ehrm... is this a good thing? http://t.co/Gqh63Dp7N9"

No, I think what you've done is a bad idea. There is a reason why your joystick is misbehaving and you need to find what it is rather than patch in additional components.

If you go to the files section for Poly-800 servicing you will see the schematics and also a great explanation of how the joystick electoronics works.

Well, I've checked all kinds of stuff Mike, different device (poly/mk2/ex800) settings, global parameter resets,... It started out with the 'very rare' boot rom mismatch, ended with taking out the hawk, checking flatcables, refluxing all pads but now I'm done with it.
The pot is just working, it shifts the voltage to the correct level in the multiplexer so -for now-  I'm happy.
