How many potential customers out there?

How many potential customers out there?

2009-01-05 by korgpolyex800

Hi Poly fans,

I am completely out of the HAWK-800 and AtomaHawk boards.

That means I need to order some more to keep some on hand.

Marcus is patiently waiting for his two AtomaHawk kits. So I know I
have to order at least two of those.

But I would like to hear from anyone out there who might be reasonably
certain that they will be buying either the HAWK-800 or the AtomaHawk
(or both :-) ) kits.

Please let me know as soon as you can.

And many thanks to you all. Just selling twenty HAWK-800 kits and 12
AtomaHawk kits has been very rewarding.

Mike.

If I get to repair my EX-800, count me as one

Hi Dave,

at the moment, there's no real need to revise the board because we haven't run out of space in the existing EEPROM's for the software that I have developed so far. If I ever get to develop a decent arpeggiator for the Poly then that situation may change.

But if you were to order the rev 1.3 board, the new feature planned for rev 1.4 will still be able to be installed onto the rev 1.3 board with a bit of modding. A mod of the mod so to speak.

So if I were you, I wouldn't wait around for rev 1.4. Especially since I may never develop or release the 1.4 board anyway. It's a matter of priorities and time and interest from the Poly 800 community. Interest which seems to be thinning out.

Mike

I'm interested. And reasonably certain I'm going to be ordering a
AtomaHawk kit in the next month or so, now I've got the pain of
Christmas spending out of the way ;)

OK... I give you my word I will buy both kits, so that you can order the parts. You just tell me when it would be OK to order via PayPal.

Hawk-800 and AtomaHawk... really cool names... I wonder who was the brain who came up with them... (lol)

I wasn't sure if I was going to do it or not, but I got some extra cash from Christmas, so I

We are here, and we have no money because we live in a fascist world.(when the democratically elected group of people who have been elected to run OUR affairs are controlled by an outside group, this is fascism, and so we live in fascist states of divide and rule)
None the less, we are here and would like to purchase, if only we had the money. It is not as if you are charging the earth for it.
Once the system collapses we will all have them, and that can't be long now surely.
Also, I have yet to here any wow's and waw's from those who have purchased already. I mean, what is it doing? Are folks liking what you here etc.?

Hi Mike,
I'm in for both kits for sure.
I voted for Al to stop taking mind altering substances...

Atom, I've been a bass player for darn near 40 years. I've also been
a synth nut for about that long. Of course I'm geeky and also have an
engineering degree the usual kinda stuff. I play 2 strats that have
midi setups. One uses Roland's GM-70 with a GK-1 and the other a
Digitech/IVL Pitchrider 7000 MkII. The IVL setup blows away the Roly
setup. It's really neat playing 60 to 100ms ahead of what you're
hearing. Takes a bit of getting used to. I play with my fingers so
tracking errors abound. Slow synth voices are best......

Hey Fran? Why do you have latency with the Digitech?

Hey Gor, The Digitech still has some latency because it's still
converting pitch info into midi. The latency is 1/3 to 1/2 the GM-70
but it's still noticeable. Like Zoinky said you're plodding along
trying to break the sound barrier but it's always just out of reach.

Atom, He he, yes I've played washtub bass too. No techno there though.

You might be onto something there. Now, where can I get a washboard?

Wonder what it would sound like to use an Ebow with the guitar synth?
I've seen some videos of Tommy Bolin using an early guitar synth/processor with the James Gang, but he was such a magician it would have been complete crap if anyone else played it.  ;^)

yeah that's it, combine the two most unplayable guitar-gadget playing
methods! You have to play so deliberately for those midi trackers to
work in the first place, I suspect adding an E-bow would only add to
the tracking errors.

The only time I ever saw anyone trying to do guitar->midi pitch
tracking live was Robert Fripp when he ressurected King Crimson in the
early 90s, and he had to play chords so slowly it was nothing but a
gimmicky hindrence, and he dropped that routine after one tour. I can
see the appeal of a guitarist having a pitch->midi converter running
while in the studio, just to make jotting down quick ideas that much
easier, but otherwise I contend they're useless. Granted, the only one
I have personal experience with is the Shadow converter, and it was
supposedly one of the best. I'm just glad I never had to pay the $800
price tag for it, as a guy let me borrow it and never bothered asking
for it back, and after using it I know why.
