Sustain pedal

Sustain pedal

2008-11-20 by Michael Hawkins

Hi Poly fans,

This new feature is one coming from out of the blue.

I have implemented a sustain pedal function. The original pedal jack is for incrementing the patch numbers. That is something that I NEVER used.

So I've implemented a new global parameter (17) that allows you to make the pedal jack into a sustain pedal.

At the moment, it only holds the notes at the sustain level. When you release the pedal the notes that you have let go are then released. The pedal is basically "holding" the notes.

Now I am going to try to implement a second sustain pedal mode that will not only hold the notes at sustain point but will also change the decay of the EG's. I will be trying to add an extended parameter that allows setting the decay offset for the sustain pedal. This offset would be added to the set decay. And then another mode will add the offset to the release too (maybe we need a second extended parameter to determine the release offset).

I'll let you all know how that works out.

Mike.

I will be ordering both kits at the same time :)

How many of you would be about to order the HAWK-800 along with the

And how many of you that already have the HAWK-800 will be ordering
the AtomaHawk?

One crazy thing I had thought about is patching some sort of a potentiometer pedal and assign it to a parameter so as to be able to modulate it with your foot :) imagine, for instance, asigning cutoff -- instant wah-wah like effect...

with the MIDI CC's for parameter editing and the NRPN support, you can do this with the HAWK-800 kit right now.

Can anyone point Dave at a link to a MIDI foot pedal?

Mike.

==================

FCB1010, preferably with UNO firmware - http://www.ossandust.be/

overall, that's one of the best/cheapest/most readily available
foot-control-to-midi things out there.

does the foot pedal even understand variable voltage? i would think the
hardware only recognizes open/closed circuit.
